This crisp, insightful piece is a compelling read because it's about humanity and hope for better things. So I don't need to live in Iowa to find myself completely riveted. Thank you for a glimpse into the life of someone I expect to see on the national stage.

Great piece Doug, makes me want to meet Josh Turek, NOW!! Just came from a Central Committee meeting — we’re ready to start hearing from “hope and persistence”!! Any chance Josh might be up for a visit in Greene County?

I only hope you're right, Doug, and that we still have fed elections in 2026. But then again, I thought Franken might be the one to finally beat Grassley...

No…J.D. Scholten is our best, strongest choice…Josh isn’t a bad guy, but Scholten is better.

Yes, a statewide victory for Ds is in view with an outstate, western Iowa candidate like Turek. Remember Governor and US Senator Harold Hughes from Ida Grove !

I think he is a good choice, and if he makes it, I hope we can get JD Scholten for governor!

The most hopeful story about the future elections (provided we’re allowed to have them) I’ve read to date. We can’t start promoting and educating Iowans soon enough, in my view, to begin providing hope for disaffected voters. My wish is the IDP starts investing their words, energy and resources to advance candidates of his caliber immediately!

I have heard so many good things about Josh. Thank you for telling all of us about him Doug. He does seem like he could be the hope for the future for all of the people of Iowa.

Thank you for this piece. I agree. Have never heard anyone speak ill of Mr. Turek. And he obviously has the grit it takes to win and use common sense.

Thanks Doug for writing about Josh. I think he is more able than the people I see in the Trump administration. Yes, challenges and struggles can provide the fodder for making differences for all.
